The best things in life can start slowly
Welcome to 2025.
We’ve made it to the other side of frantic December—a month where so many of us sprint toward the finish line, only to find ourselves waking up with a disorienting energetic hangover as we hurtle toward Blue Monday.
But this year, I’m choosing a different pace. I’m intentionally taking it easy as we step into this new month.
New date, but same me.
Same you.
Because the flip of a calendar page doesn’t magically transform us into something new.
I’ve never been one for the January pressure cooker of resolutions, big goals, or “word of the year” stuff.
To me, they often feel like another to-do list—one we’re destined to abandon by the third week of the month.
It’s hard. It’s draining. It’s often meaningless.
So instead, I’m focusing on how I want to feel—not just for this moment, but for the whole year ahead.
This past December, I had the chance to reconnect with what truly matters to me.
I spent Christmas with my family in the USA, the first time we’ve all been together in six years. There were no trees, no turkey, no mince pies.
No gifts, either—except the most important one: the gift of time.
And I felt a deep, quiet gratitude. For those moments. For that time. For the chance to pause. To breathe. To exhale.
To simply have time, is what matters most. We give it away so freely in every waking moment.
And we don’t get it back.
Whilst I was away, I didn’t think about goals for 2025. No lists. No targets. No ticking boxes.
My only focus was being present.
And as we step into this new year, I want to hold onto that space. That ease.
Maybe you do too?
Take a moment. Breathe out. Exhale what’s behind you, and inhale what’s ahead.
And then, take the next small step. Slowly. With intention.
Because the best things in life don’t need to start fast.
They’ll start when you’re ready. Let’s begin there.
